Installing... it's easier than you think!

Installation

For your convenience, we have put together a step-by-step method of installing your DPU-2000. If you have any problems, you can click to the troubleshooting page.

STEP ONE:

Make certain that all of the following components/hardware is present. Check with this list:

You might also require:

RCA-to-mini adapter plug (If needed, we can send you one in a jiffy!)

STEP TWO:

Make certain that your telephone system is "MOH-compatible". Go to your company's telephone room (Usually a small room or closet where your telephone system has been mounted on the wall. The telephone system itself should look like an ominous plastic case with wires coming out of the top or side). Look at the telephone system; on the side, front or bottom should be a plug labelled "MOH", "HOLD MUSIC", "HOLD", "MUSIC", or something similar. If the plug is not there (and the case has a panel which CAN be easily opened), open the front panel and look inside for the plug.

- If there is no such plug, call your interconnect company (or the company that installed your telephone system).

- If you have found such a plug, but there is a wire coming out of it, determine wether the wire will be a help or a hinderance: Take a look at the plug on the end of the wire coming out of the system. Does it look like this? If so, then our wire is not required. Go to STEP THREE.

- If the end of the wire looks like this (with TWO black bands), or any other kind of plug, unplug the wire from the system and use ours in its place. While  removing the wire from the system, look at the plug that was going into the phone system, does it look like this? If so, go to STEP THREE. If the plug going into the phone system looks like this, call Info-Chip for a mini-to-RCA adapter. If the plug looks like ANYTHING else, call your interconnect company.

- If there IS a plug as described, plug one end of our mini cable in, then proceed to the STEP THREE.

STEP THREE:

We have now determined that your telephone system is "Music On Hold" compatible. The next step is to hook up the system.

Plug the power adapter into a nearby socket, and see about running the wire along the wall and out of the way to the DPU-2000. Insert the other plug into the DPU's power input. You should have two green lights on the display. Proceed to STEP FOUR.

If you have anything other than two solid green lights, click here for the meaning and course of action.

STEP FOUR:

Either with the wire coming out of the telephone system or our supplied wire, plug into the audio output jack on the DPU-2000.

STEP FIVE:

Now find a space on the wall close to the telephone system to mount your DPU-2000. Using the template, leave enough clearance to the left of the DPU for wires, and screw the two mounting screws into the wall through the marked crosses, leaving 1/4 of the length of the screw exposed.

(NOTE: DO NOT MOUNT THE DPU-2000 ONTO YOUR TELEPHONE SYSTEM)

Remove the paper template (we can always fax you another one if necessary), and line up the two mounting holes on the back of the DPU to the screws, then pull down slightly.

STEP SIX:

Adjust the volume with a pen or paperclip by "tapping" on the recessed "UP" & "DOWN" volume buttons. ("Tap" = press and release)

...You have now successfully installed the DPU-2000. If you come across any problems either during or after the installation, be sure to go to the following pages:
